Blue cohosh is a perennial plant that grows through eastern North America, typically in damp, wooded areas. Due to overharvesting and logging, blue cohosh is considered "threatened", but not yet endangered. The plant's seeds can take up to three seasons to germinate, which is a contributing factor in its availability in the wild.

Magically, blue cohosh root is very similar to black cohosh root, and the two can be used interchangeably. Both plants are used to protect objects, people, and places, and both can be used to instill courage into it's wearer. Blue cohosh can be hung above your home entrance to ward off negative energies and entities, and can be burned to purify a space.
